A presentation by the AARP Fraud Watch Network on how to protect yourself from falling victim to identity theft and scams.

Have you ever been approached with a fraudulent offer or been a victim of identity theft? The AARP Fraud Watch Network is working to empower you with proven resources and tools to help you spot and avoid identity theft. This session will arm you with the latest data on fraud trends and provide tips and resources to protect yourself and your family. Registration required.

We will cover:

  • Fraud Trends – Understanding how much fraud is out there and what it looks like.
  • The Con Artist’s Playbook – To understand the strategy and tactics used by these criminals to defraud victims.
  • Prevention – Knowing and practicing prevention strategies to avoid becoming a target.
  • Resources – How to access and share up-to-date tools and resources about fraud identification and prevention, and where to go if you or someone you love has fallen victim to a scam.

About the library

The second library to be built in Prince William County, the Bull Run Library features a 24-hour book drop, 125-seat Community Room, a Quiet Study Room and a Children’s and Young Adult area, 24 public access computers, and free Wi-Fi.
