The Haymarket Gainesville library is seeking some brave high school students (rising 9th - 12th graders) who want to learn to play Dungeons and Dragons this summer. All levels of experience are welcome. This is a story-focused, role-play-driven, theatre-of-the-mind (i.e. imagination) game and will not use miniatures or physical maps. The campaign will be led by veteran dungeon master, Art Ross: library volunteer, Haymarket resident, camp counselor, and DM for kids and adults alike. Players will attend a weekly 3hr sessions on Monday afternoons from 2:30 to 5:30. Registration required.
Haymarket Gainesville Library features a 24-hour book drop, 185-seat community room, four study rooms, a Quiet Study area, 21 public access computers, and a Children’s and Young Adult area. The library has a historic home, The Bushy House, and several comfortable outdoor seating areas on its property.
Haymarket Gainesville Library provides materials for children, young adults, and adults in print and digital formats. In addition, the library also offers special events and programs for all ages, including English Conversation Club, book discussion groups, one-on-one appointments for technology assistance, and U.S. Passport Services.
Several times a year, Haymarket Gainesville Library hosts absentee voting for local, state, and federal elections and is the only branch offering this special service.
