Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to design their own original superhero, complete with a name, powers, and a stunning sketch. Enter for a chance to win a cool prize! This program is part of Lit Con.

Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to design their own original superhero, complete with a name, powers, and a stunning sketch. Enter for a chance to win a cool prize and see your superhero celebrated at the library. Please be sure to read the submission guidelines below before submitting your sketch:

Submission Guidelines

1. The contest is open to all students in grades 6-12, regardless of experience or skill level. No previous sketching or drawing experience is required. The goal is to encourage fun, creativity, and expression.

2. Please refrain from submitting content that contains excessive violence or is considered inappropriate for a general audience. Such submissions will be disqualified.

3. Only one submission per contestant. Contestants may not submit more than one entry.

4. Contestants may submit either a hand-drawn or digital sketch of their superhero. The sketch should include the superhero's name and powers. It can be created on standard letter-sized paper (8.5” x 11”) or in a digital format (JPEG, PNG, or PDF).

5. Use any art materials you like, such as pencils, markers, crayons, colored pencils, or digital art tools. There are no limits to your creativity!

6. Sketches can be submitted either in-person at the Manassas City Library or via email as a JPEG, PNG, or PDF to LibYouthServicesMC@pwcgov.org. The contestant should be sure to include their first and last name, an email address, and phone number with the submission.

7. Sketches may be submitted from April 21 to May 3. All submissions must be received by May 3. Late entries will not be considered, so please submit on time.

8. The winner will be announced no later than May 18. They will receive the grand prize, and have their work displayed in the library and on PWPL's social media.

9. Every participant will receive a certificate and a small prize for their participation.

10. Parents and guardians can help students with brainstorming ideas or reading over their work, but we encourage teens to create their sketches independently.

11. Questions? Please email Clea Overstreet at Coverstreet@pwcgov.org or call the Manassas City Library at 703-792-8820.
