Join the Family Nutrition Program "Eating Smart Being Active" and learn the importance of making healthy food choices and adding exercise to our daily activities.

Join the Family Nutrition Program “Eating Smart Being Active” and learn the importance of making healthy food choices and adding physical activity to your daily life.

  • These lessons are a series, participants have to complete all the 4 meetings, a maximum of 2 hours for each meeting.
  • This class is for parents or caregivers of children 12 years or younger,  a pregnant woman or a pregnant teen 16 years or older.
  • The lessons are free, and participants receive reinforcements after every session.

We learn:

Delicious, simple, and low-cost recipes (and taste tests)

• Tips on meal planning and food shopping to save time and money

• Easy and safe ways to move and be active 

• Small group settings where you can make friends and get support

The Virginia Cooperative Extension Family Nutrition Program provides nutrition and healthy lifestyle education to limited-resource families who qualify for Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), WIC, Head Start, SNAP, and Medicaid.

About the library

Potomac Library features a 24-hour book drop, 125-seat Community Room, and a Children and Young Adult area. Potomac also features an outdoor patio and garden area for individual enjoyment as well as a setting for outdoor programs and special events.

Potomac Library provides materials for children, young adults and adults in print and digital formats, and 25 public access computers.

Potomac Library offers U.S. Passport Services to the community.
