Free tax help for taxpayers with low- and middle-income with special attention to those ages 60 and older. Advanced reservations are not available. Tax help is on a first come first served basis.
No one will be allowed into the library before it opens.
What to bring when you come for tax help:
Social Security cards for yourself and all dependents
Copy of last year’s income tax returns
W-2 forms from each employer
Unemployment compensation statements
SSA-1099 form if you were paid Social Security benefits
All 1099 forms (1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-misc, etc.) showing interest, dividends, and other income as well as documentation showing the original purchase price of your sold assets
1099R forms if you received a pension or annuity
All forms indicating federal income tax paid
Child care provider information (name, employer ID, Social Security number)
Receipts or canceled checks if itemizing deductions
Health insurance coverage information for taxpayer, spouse, and dependents
Including Forms 1095-A, 1095-B, 1095C or Exemption Certificate Number (ECN), if applicable
1099-G form if you received a state tax refund from Virginia
Chinn Park Library features a 24-hour book drop, 125-seat Community Room, a Quiet Study Room, two individual study rooms, a group study room with a smart TV, a Children and Young Adult area, and 24 public access computers.
The Management and Government Information Center (MAGIC) is a specialized collection of local, state and federal government information. MAGIC has the same hours of operation as Chinn Park. MAGIC staff are available to assist with local, state and federal government information as well as with its print and digital resources.
