June 21The Night of the Hunter (1955) directed by Charles Laughton. A classic Hollywood psychological thriller starring Robert Mitchum and Shelley Winters.

"Spellbinding, ominous, and hauntingly suspenseful, this extraordinary film noir classic remains one of the most frightening movies ever made."

July 19: Bend It Like Beckham (2002) directed by Gurinder Chadha. Beloved early 2000s sports comedy starring Parminder Nagra and Keira Knightley. 

"In Bend It Like Beckham, Jesminder Bhamra (Nagra) and Jules Paxton (Knightley) chase careers in professional football despite their parents' wishes."

August 16: Arrival (2016) directed by Denis Villeneuve and based on the short story "Story of Your Life," by Ted Chiang. A science fiction drama film starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker.

"Twelve extraterrestrial spacecraft hover over various locations around the Earth. Affected nations send military and scientific experts to monitor and study them; in the United States, US Army Colonel Weber (Whitaker) recruits Banks (Adams) and physicist Ian Donnelly (Renner) to study the craft above Montana."

About the library

Montclair Library serves a bustling suburban community in eastern Prince William County. With large glass windows and a stone terrace suited for outdoor performances, the LEED-certified building offers inviting spaces for children, young adults, and adults, including 22 public access computers, a PS5 gaming station, and a fireplace in the reading room.

Library grounds are also home to a restored 19th century historic property known as the Barnes House, an important part of the county’s rich African-American heritage.

Montclair’s community room offers seating for up to 100 people and a large-screen TV for presentations. There are four group study rooms. An individual quiet study room is also available on a first-come, first-served basis.
