This project lets kids see firsthand how the earth can be affected by the negative effects of their waste.
Each child will make their own planet with playdough. Then with a negative description of dumping trash, emphasizing how bad the earth is starting to look, the kids will add trash charms (tires, garbage bags, glass bottles, cans, etc.) to their playdough earth. After it's done, we will describe to the kids that they can help the planet look better by cleaning up and keeping waste off of our planet by putting their trash and recyclables in the correct bins by using plastic tweezers to take the trash charms off of the planet and into the correct bin(s).
